Recall may be diminished when the individual is in a different state based on the American Psychological Association definition. State- dependent learning is the learning that occurs biological or psychological state and is better recalled when the individual is subsequently in the same state. To rephrase and in simpler terms, state dependent memories are memories that are triggered or enhanced by a person’s current mood because of the relationship to memories formed when in a similar state. ![]() Based on the American Psychological Association, the proper definition is a condition in which a memory for a past event is improved when the person is in the same biological or psychological states as when the memory was initially formed. ![]() Well, these two examples are called state-dependent memories. You begin to get angry at your partner and you both begin to argue so you start bringing out all the times your boyfriend or girlfriend have done you wrong because in the moment of your anger you begin to bring up memories that make you even more angry. Have you ever recalled a time in which you have been so happy and during your happy moment you begin to recall all the other times that you have been happy before? Let’s say you go to the mall and your boyfriend or girlfriend completely ignores you while speaking to someone of the opposite sex. ![]()
